Kaduna state has been facing serious violence since June 2016.
Daily Trust reports that Major-General Oyebade who visited the area to speak with elders and youths ordered the immediate deployment of troops to Nine, a neighboring community where the renewed attacks commenced.
Oyebade explained that the men with the ammunition were in their middle ages and were driving in a maroon-colored Volkswagen vehicle through the front of the Sarkin Kagoma’s palace when they were nabbed by the troops.
“The troops became suspicious when they tried to stop the men and they objected. The troops then approached them, only to discover there were rounds of ammunition in the vehicle.

The traditional ruler of Kagoma Chiefdom, Paul Zakka Gyon, reportedly told the army commander that the recent attacks had a connection to the inability of the natives displaced from Nine to return home.
He also appealed for the deployment of troops to restore confidence in the area and ensure that displaced residents returned home
The report said there are allegations that herdsmen took advantage of the situation to graze their cattle in people’s farms.
The GOC said the troops were only there to maintain peace and not take sides. He also appealed to both the Fulani communities and locals not to cause a religious crisis.

PREGNANT DOCTOR CARRIES SON INTO THE THEATRE WHILE PERFORMING CESAREAN SECTION

PREGNANT DOCTOR CARRIES SON INTO THE THEATRE WHILE PERFORMING CESAREAN SECTION

How committed are you to your job?

Doctor backs her baby while performing surgery

An obstetrician identified as Swabra Swaleh Breik, who had to take her sick son into the operating room while performing a C-Section on a pregnant woman recently, narrated what led to her decision.
The woman who works in the Olkalou district hospital in Kenya, said her decision to put her son on her back while performing the surgery despite being three months pregnant herself, was a difficult one yet absolutely necessary.
Here's what she shared on her Facebook page below:
I hate and love this picture because it depicts my life, to be specific my career life in equal measures. I had my Sick and cranky son with me in theatre because on that specific call week, I had no nanny, my able nanny was at a burial. My partner was away, we worked in different hospitals hundreds of kilometers apart. It was a weekend, so no colleague would have helped. The understaffed Olkalou district hospital has only one doctor covering the hospital every night and all weekend. no nurse would have helped carry my temi, they were engaged in the labour suite, the only available nurse covering the hospital had gone for a referral to nakuru pgh. Everything had worked to lead us here. I was three months pregnant. It was not the first time, this had happened severally, mostly when, like any mother, previous nannies would be overwhelmed by my call weeks.
I hate that I have my son in theatre when he should be well settled in his bed. I hate that I was weak, tired and nauseous, and yet still yielded a knife in my hand. I hate the fact I couldn't refer this woman, the mother and baby wouldn't have made it. I love that they both lived. I love that my nanny came back and rescued us.
I hate that, after three years of service to Olkalou district hospital the county went ahead to deny me my well deserved study leave despite sponsoring every other doctor therein with less years experience simply because, in their words, "what assurance did they have I'd return as a consultant? ".My last name is swaleh, not kamau, kinyanjui, karanja.... I was forced into a resignation.
I hate that the county is still rife with corruption, extravagance, buying Christmas trees worth 2 million each, instead of dealing with all these inadequacies, failed systems, instead of paying me my well deserved money.
I've neared that point where I'll no longer care, I've given way too much of myself, my family, my kid, my marriage, my emotions, my health, to this failed system. Like a damaged lover who takes all the life from you and leaves you as a shell of your former self, this failed system keeps stealing my joy in this great profession.
Only the CBA can right these wrongs. It is not government pay doctors. No. For what is a full pocket if I still have to go through all these motions again? It is, government implement the CBA. Simple. I want my stolen joy restored. Kenyans should be asking for their joy too.
Tell me how comfortable you would be seeing your pregnant surgeon carrying a cranky sick crying toddler."
Such dedication!

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the unnamed commander was arrested in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Saturday, December 24.

EX-PRESIDENT JONATHAN DEBUNKS 2019 AMBITIONS CLAIMS

EX-PRESIDENT JONATHAN DEBUNKS 2019 AMBITIONS CLAIMS

- Former President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made his decision known about 2019

- There had been insinuations that the former president was making plans to contest again in the forthcoming presidential election

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied a recent report that he met with his kinsmen in Otuoke, Bayelsa state, to discuss the 2019 election.
The Nation reports that the former president made the denial through a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze.
The statement described as lies the online reports about the purported meeting, and said Jonathan was neither in his home state on the said date nor met with his kinsmen who paid him an end of year visit, as the report claimed.

Ex-President Jonathan said he did not meet with his kinsmen over 2019 general election

“Our attention has just been drawn to a fabricated online publication alleging that the former President Goodluck Jonathan made comments on the 2019 elections while hosting his kinsmen in Otuoke last Tuesday.

“Those reports are false and bear no truth whatsoever. The former President was not in Otuoke on Tuesday, neither did he make the comments attributed to him.
"In fact, he has only just returned to his community to spend Christmas having been away for two weeks. So he could not have been hosting anyone there last Tuesday.
“Of what good is it to our national development efforts if some people spend so much energy spreading falsehood about fellow citizens and our nation?
“The former president wishes his fellow compatriots a merry Christmas and prosperous New Year in advance, and advises all to always channel their efforts towards working to attain the nation of our collective dreams," the statement said.
Ikechukwu Eze had months ago debunked insinuations that the former president was still eyeing the position.
Goodluck Jonathan was defeated in 2015 by Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He conceded defeat and handed over the power on May 29 that year.

WHAT NIGERIANS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IBORI'S RELEASE

WHAT NIGERIANS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IBORI'S RELEASE

The former Delta state governor, James Ibori, has been released from prison. He was released on Wednesday, December 21 by a UK court.

The court order was that he should be released before his confiscation trial begins.
The former governor's release is causing division among Nigerians
His release is causing a stir on social media as Nigerians are reacting differently. Some are congratulating him while others are wondering why he was released.
Those congratulating and celebrating him
Mephman Henry wrote: “Welcome home!! Mr president, 2019 is around the corner!! The man with strong heart!! Make Nigeria great again!!"
Welcome home Lord Ibori...we welcome you back! We have tasted other governors, they can't be compared to you. Welcome again Ododigborigbo1 of Africa,” another Facebook user Otumudia O Paul wrote.
According to Ita Joseph, Ibori is not the worst criminal in Nigeria.
Call him names. But to me, he will always belong to the Niger Delta. Many have done worse than him and are roaming free. Your situation was an executive disappearance from the political scene by you know who. A bad child will always have a spot in his father's house. Welcome, home Mr. James ibori. And what a perfect time to be back. Niger Delta for life,” he said.
Another commenter, Adebola Mark said: “You may choose to call him criminal, but he remains the ogidigboigbo of his people. His 8years is still far better than his successors have done put together. The number of schools, roads built by this man can't be matched by the ones spoilt by successive governments and even the 'saints' that have not been caught in other states. Ogidigboigbo of Africa, welcome.”
Some others are of the opinion that all Nigerian leaders are criminals.
Oba-Jonathan Elemi Rockmond wrote: “Why are you people condemning James Ibori? We should try and be sincere for once. All our leaders both past and present are born thieves. Odidigbogbo1, you are highly welcome sir!!”
Also commenting, Gbebikan Adeyemi said: “Those from the south don't think. How many former northern governors have you seen being prosecuted for corruption? Does it mean they ain't corrupt? These people shield their men and make a mockery of the southern governors. And by now you should know ALL Nigerian politicians are crooked, none is a saint.”
Others are saying Nigerians are hypocrites celebrating high-class criminals while they burn poor thieves alive.
Godspower Bassey wrote: “Enough of this! Enough of this! Enough of this nonsense!!! Aah Aah! How long must our high-class thief go scot-free? An end must come to this nonsense. Can u imagine if poor man thieves they will burn him with the tire or cut off his hand but the reverse is d case with the high class thief of the nation’s money? Thief is thief there should be no special treatment. Please, federal government should enact this law that anybody who steals (me I call is thief ole buruku for Yoruba) from public funds should die by hanging. #Justice must prevail#”
Seun Anthony wrote: “Now this is why I know there is very little hope for this country, look at how people are celebrating a man who stole billions from his people, escaped and even dressed as a woman to hide, such shame and disgrace, until the no-nonsense white people caught and jailed him for the small amount he brought into their country, yet these same Nigerians will see a hungry man steal, beat him to death and burn him up, I am sure God himself is tired of our stupidity! We are the ones doing ourselves!”
On his part, Yinka Igbaroola commented: “I wonder why Nigerians don't welcome armed robbers home with the enthusiasm they welcome a politician that robbed them and their future generations. I have heard the argument that he is not the worse thief but does your culture all room for different levels of thievery?”
His sins will be washed away once he joins the All Progressives Congress. Watch out for 2019.
Hilary Ogar wrote: “Watch out, he will receive a hero's welcome to Nigeria where he will be adopted as a saint to APC where the fangs of EFCC will no more have an effect on him. Don't be surprised to see his poster as the next presidential aspirant.”
The former governor born on August 4, 1959, was sentenced to 13-year imprisonment by a United Kingdom court on corruption charges on April 17, 2012.
His release comes barely three days after a report surfaced that Ibori was expected to return to Nigeria for the Christmas celebration. However, his spokesperson Tony Eluemunor issued a statement asking the public to disregard any talk of Ibori returning home anytime soon.

JUST IN: UK COURT ORDERS IBORI'S IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM PRISON

JUST IN: UK COURT ORDERS IBORI'S IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM PRISON

A UK court has ordered the immediate release of former Delta state governor, James Onanefe Ibori from prison on Wednesday, December 21.

The Cable reports that associates of the former governor said the court ruled that Ibori is released before his confiscation trial begins.
Vanguard also confirms that the former governor was subsequently released from custody shortly after the ruling.
According to his media aide, Tony Elumenor, Ibori was released few minutes past noon in adherence to the court order.
Ibori was sentenced to 13-year imprisonment in the United Kingdom on corruption charges on April 17, 2012.
The home office wanted the court to resolve if the politician could be released without going through confiscation trial so they went to court for interpretation and it was resolved in Ibori’s favor.
The confiscation trial is to determine if his assets should be seized after serving his jail term.
Meanwhile, Asaba, the Delta state capital, is still pessimistic over the release of the former governor.
The former senator representing Delta central in the National Assembly, Chief Ighoyota Amori, in a text message to journalists, confirmed that the Ibori has been released from the UK prison.
He said the release is without condition just as he congratulated and thanked all Deltans for supporting the former governor all through his days in the UK prison.
But when asked when is Ibori is expected to visit Delta and the preparation of the people to receive him, Amori said his coming to Delta would be soon but without a specific date
He promised to keep Deltans posted when Ibori eventually arrives the state.
However, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, a former media aide to Olorogun Otega Emerhor, also in a text message said Ibori may return to Delta state on December 23 as a red carpet is being prepared for him.
He said Ibori will return in a chartered jet through Heathrow airport to Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
He added that political associates and family members will give him a red carpet reception before jetting him to Osubi airstrip from where the convoy will take off for his palatial home in Oghara in Ethiope West, Delta state.
He said political observers believe that the return of Ibori to the state will open a new page for the politics of Delta state.
He also said some political observers are of the view that he may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) since PDP folks contributed to his travails in the United Kingdom.

Indonesia Adopts New Visa Policy For Nigerians

INDONESIA ADOPTS NEW VISA POLICY FOR NIGERIANS.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Harry Purwanto, on Tuesday, announced his government’s new policy for issuing visas to Nigerians and other foreigners wanting to visit Indonesia for any purpose.

Purwanto told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that under the new policy, his Embassy would no longer be involved in visa processing, but only in the collection of visa applications.
The Ambassador, who did not give any reason for his government’s new visa policy, said that the processing of visas to Indonesia would henceforth take a much longer time.
“Nigerians seeking visas to Indonesia should know that the Indonesian government has introduced a new visa application and issuance policy.
“Under the new policy, we as an Embassy in Nigeria have been withdrawn from processing visas.
“All we are now required to do is to collect visa applications and send them to Indonesia for processing. We now have to be taking authority from Jakarta.
“We, therefore, want to tell Nigerians seeking visas to Indonesia to now begin their applications at least two weeks in advance, to enable us to send their applications on time to Jakarta,’’ he said.
Purwanto enjoined Nigerians to always ensure that authentic information and documents were provided in their visa application forms, to avoid visa refusal from Jakarta.
The Ambassador, who restated his government’s commitment to issuing more visas to Nigerians, said that about 1,000 Nigerians have issued visas to Indonesia this year.
He also said that his government would continue to create the right environment for mutual trade relations and people-to-people interactions between genuine Nigerians and Indonesians.

The free eye glasses distribution which was part of the government's poverty alleviation program kicked off at a government house arcade, Ado Ekiti with about 5000 already tested beneficiaries on the seat.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Simon Ojo who said the second batch of the free glass distribution will continue next year described the gesture as a dividend of democracy and a display of the governor Fayose's pragmatic approach at taking good governance to the populace even in the face of the economic downturn as being witnessed across the country.
Governor Fayose in his interaction with the beneficiaries described the program as one in a good direction. He added that it is a continuation from where he stopped in his first term.
His words, "we have done this before, these are things that can get to the common people, these are benefits that can get to the common man in the society, a lot of our people have become handicapped by bad sight over time and they couldn't find a solution.

"Taking this to them, going to them to do the test and today formally giving them the glasses is a breakthrough for most of them. You can't imagine that people can wake up without a #100 in the morning not to say getting a reading glass for about #7000, that could be a major problem and we felt this project is one in a right direction".
Governor Fayose while assuring Ekiti people about the sustainability of the project explained that next phase of the project was captured in the 2017 budget adding that the project will be a continuous one throughout his stay in office.
Condemning open defecation and calling on the people of the state to inculcate hygienic habits by regularly washing their hands, Mr. Fayose called on Ekiti women to make themselves very visible in 2017 as his government has made necessary provision for the celebration of Ekiti women in 2017.
