Pastor EA Adeboye prayed for the success of Pastor Joseph Obayemi shortly after the latter was appointed the national overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Pastor Adeboye had made the appointment while he retained the position of general overseer worldwide.

Reports had filtered in that Pastor Joseph Obayemi is to become the new National Overseer of the body, a position which was hitherto held by Pastor Adeboye.

And amid reactions of shock expressed by the church's members and followers from all over the world over the unexpected decision, it has been gathered that the pastor actually appointed new officers to take over the reins of affairs in Nigeria while he oversees as the overall head.

It was gathered that this new decision was informed by a new policy was in line with legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.

A statement by the church read: "The regulation stipulates that heads of nonprofit organizations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organizations while in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families."

After the appointment, the appointees got on their knees while Pastor Adeboye prayed for them.
