- Federal government workers will get pay rise next year
- This was the submission of the minister of labor and employment, Senator Chris Ngige
- Ngige said workers are entitled to a review of their salaries constitutionally
The minister of labor and employment, Senator Chris Ngige has revealed that workers will get a pay rise next year.
Ngige made the statement in Awka, Anambra state on Tuesday, December 13 during an interactive session with journalists, The Punch reports.
According to him, the policy will be drafted in such a way that any employer of labor in Nigeria who pays his/her workers below the minimum wage would face punishment.
Meanwhile, federal government agencies whose workers are earning superfluous salaries may have their wages reviewed. This is in line with renewed push by the government to put a check on fleecing revenue especially by revenue generating agencies. Similarly, the government has made plans to restructure some of the sectors in the country, even as the move might cost hundreds of workers their jobs
